Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

We’ll start your adventure by picking you up from your hotel. Once you’ve met our guide and chef, we’ll drive to Tarangire National Park, which is about a 2-hour drive away. This park is famous for its diverse landscape, including ancient Baobab trees, and it’s home to the largest concentration of elephants in the country. Keep an eye out for these majestic creatures and watch the fascinating interactions within elephant families.

During our game drive through the park, we’ll focus on areas where animals have been spotted, especially predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, which can be a bit tricky to find. You’ll also see plenty of herbivores like giraffes, wildebeests, and zebras.

Afterward, we’ll head to the Tarangire River picnic site for lunch. While enjoying the beautiful view of the river and the animals, you might be entertained by small monkeys and baboons trying to steal your lunch – don’t worry, they’re just curious!

Once we’ve had our fill, we’ll continue with the game drive until around 4:30 pm, when we’ll exit the park. After the tour, we’ll head to our accommodation in Mto Wa Mbu, where we’ll set up camp for the night.

Meals included: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Mto wa mbu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we’ll start our journey from Mto Wa Mbu to Serengeti, a trip that takes about 6 hours with all the stops, including a transit through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

During our journey, we’ll make two important stops. First, we’ll briefly pause at the gate and viewpoint of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking view of the crater, a sight you won’t want to miss.

The second stop is optional but worth considering. We’ll visit a Maasai village, where you can immerse yourself in the culture of the Maasai tribe. While there, you can learn about their traditions, including their historical lion-hunting practices and warrior heritage. Please note that this visit lasts around 20-45 minutes and is optional.

Once we’re back on the road, our focus shifts to the Serengeti National Park. Covering an expansive 14,750 square kilometers, the Serengeti is famous for the annual wildebeest and zebra migration, with over 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebras forming a strategic partnership for survival.

Our destination within the Serengeti is Seronera, the park’s central hub. Arriving in the late afternoon, we’ll enjoy lunch before embarking on an exciting game drive in Seronera, where we’ll have the chance to witness the beauty of the sunset and encounter wild animals up close. With luck, we might even witness a predator hunting or making a kill.

As the day comes to an end, we’ll head to the Seronera campsite for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Serengeti.

Day 3: Serengeti to Ngorongoro

In Seronera, Serengeti National Park, we start our day bright and early at 6 am. After a refreshing cup of coffee to kickstart the morning, we set off for a morning game viewing adventure in the heart of the Serengeti.

As we explore the park, we’ll be treated to the stunning sight of the morning sun rising over the vast savannah. While the sunrise brings beauty, it also brings a bit of chill in the air, so make sure to bundle up with warm clothes.

We continue our game drive until mid-day, soaking in the sights and sounds of the Serengeti. Then, we’ll head back to camp for a full breakfast and lunch, which serves as our brunch for the day.

After filling our stomachs, we’ll hit the road again, this time towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, we’ll enjoy a game drive, allowing us to spot more wildlife as we journey towards our next destination.

Finally, as the day draws to a close, we’ll arrive at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite, where we’ll enjoy a hearty dinner and spend the night under the stars, surrounded by the beauty of the African wilderness.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

On your last day of the Tanzania Safari, after enjoying breakfast and a picnic lunch, we’ll embark on a short drive to the descending gate of the Ngorongoro Crater. Here, we’ll begin our descent down into the crater floor, which sits 650 meters deep.

During our half-day game tour in the crater, we’ll have the chance to spot a variety of wildlife, including the elusive rhinoceros if we’re lucky. The crater is home to a number of permanent resident animals, as it boasts permanent water throughout the year. Many animals prefer to stay in the crater due to this consistent water source, although they are free to come and go as they please.

After our game tour, we’ll ascend back up to the crater rim for lunch before packing up our camping gear and saying farewell to the campsite staff. Then, we’ll begin our journey back to Arusha, marking the end of your short 4-day Tanzania safari.
